Writing a poem about a girl is all in the specifics. Many girls won't even care if it is a good poem, as long as you are very specific about that girl, and what you like about her. Poems don't have to rhyme or be a certain form, but remember... if the poem is for a girl, then you need to consider your audience. What kind of poem would she like? If she is an English Major, you might need to look up some poetic forms to impress her. More likely though, even then, she will only care about what you say about her. So... how do you get those specifics? Well, what do you admire about the girl? Do you admire her intelligence? Her sense of humor? Her long hair? Her full lips? Throw in some adjectives... be very specific about what you like, and *don't* get it wrong. ... If you admire her blue eyes and they are actually green, you might start a fight rather than inspiring adoration. It doesn't have to be a feature, but it could also express what you feel about her... but still specifics are important. No girl wants to think that you wrote a poem that could apply to another girl equally. :) If you don't know any poetic forms, a Haiku is a good place to start. Haikus have the following form: 5 syllables 7 syllables 5 syllables So, try fitting what you like about the girl into that format. Here is an example "girl" Haiku: Zandra--my reason: Iget up in the morning To watch you sleeping You will want to use the name of the appropriate girl, of course... Zandra is just a name I made up for the poem... but it shows how specific you can be.Longer poemsare also good if you want to pour on the admiration... but short can be powerful as well. If you want to write a longer or more intricate poem, I suggest looking up some published poems that you admire and trying to mimic their style until you find one of your own. A good site to look for examples is here: http://www.loc.gov/poetry/180/p180-list.html. It has a lot of different poets, and they are all professionals, so you won't get any really, really bad examples. :)

Too cheesy. If she doesn't like you, your poem will be the butt of her jokes for years to come.

Just call her up and ask her to the movies. Simple, direct, and the least painful if you're rejected.

---

yeah what that person said, but if she did like you, and you could write poetry properly, how sweet would that be?

--------

He is completely right and once you are going out with her give her this poem

You are beautiful

Not only because of the brownness of your eyes

Or the shape of your body

Not only because of the fullness of your lips

Or the curl of your eye lashes

You are beautiful because You want to be

You are beautiful because God made you that way

You are beautiful because in my eyes

THERE IS NO ONE MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN YOU

You are beautiful because you have a heart

And that is a beautiful thing

You are beautiful because you have a brain

And that is a beautiful thing

You are beautiful because You give advice

And that is a beautiful thing

You are beautiful because God made You that way

You are beautiful because in my eyes

THERE IS NO ONE MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN YOU

You are beautiful because you have confidence

You are beautiful because you have determination and wit

You are beautiful because you have goals and you plan to reach them

You are beautiful because you are always there to lend a helping hand

You are beautiful because God made you beautiful

A classic; Roses are red, Violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you! A more different one...;( by Robert Burns (my fave ) O, my loves like a red, red rose That's newly sprung in June. O, my loves like a melody That's sweetly played in tune. As fair art thou, dearest love So deep in love am I' And I will love thee still, my dear When the sea's gone dry! Till the sea's gone dry and the rock melts with the sun I will still thee, Love While the sands of life still run And fare the well my love And fare the well a while And i will come again my love As if it were 'thousands o' miles

Start with a sentence that shows your feelings and tells her how lucky you are to have her. Then think of rhyming words and find a sentence suitable to end with that word. Just don't lie about anything you put in the poem. (Yes I am a girl and I'd like that. So she should.)

You could tell her in the poem how much you like her. Girls like that. Like this:

Once in the world there was a girl,

She was so light that if you gave her a twirl,

She would fly across the room in a whirl.

She was so darn pretty,

I gave her no pity,

And all o' her dresses did always good fitty,

Which, of course, made me always all giddy.

Once in the world there was a girl.

And I loved her with all of my heart.

Not so hard, is it? Or you could write her a poem that asks her out. That takes some creativity. And I'm not going to help you this time.
