Yes it is, and not only it is possible but you should insert a new NuvaRing exactly 7 days from when you took it out, period or not. You should keep the ring in and take the ring out according to the schedule on the calendar, regardless of any bleeding you have.
Yes you can. I have been on nuvaring for 3months and yes you can put it in while you have your period. it will not stop your period from leaving your body. you can also use tampons while having it in but just make sure you do not pull the nuvaring out while you pull out the tampon.
Yes, that's a normal thing to do. You should put it in according to the schedule, regardless of any bleeding.

The new "quick start" plan, designed to lower the risk of accidental pregnancies, suggests that you insert the NuvaRing as soon as you get it, without regard to your period, and then use a back up method of Birth Control (such as condoms or abstinence from vaginal sex) for seven days. While the ring is effective immediately when started with your period, you will get protection sooner if you use it sooner.
Yes, however if you start that late in your cycle, you will need alternate protection in the first week after inserting Nuvaring.

You can start the birth control patch at any time in your cycle. If you're not starting on one of the first five days of your period, be sure to use a backup method of birth control (like condoms or avoiding vaginal sex) until you've worn the patch for seven days.
Yes, but it won't be effective immediately. For that first cycle, you should use a back up method of birth control, like condoms or abstinence from vaginal sex, for the first seven days.

My gynecologist told me to start mine the first day I got my period, and it would be effective immediatley if you haven't been on birth control for the past month.

I just got the ring today and my gynecologist said the same thing, you can start it on your period. She also said you can keep it in for for 4 weeks instead of only 3. It will still be effective for that long. Then change it, you can also skip periods if you do it that way. I have very hard periods and this is away to prevent cramps... strong periods.

You can insert your first NuvaRing anytime in your cycle. If you insert it in the first five days of bleeding, you have immediate protection. If you insert it at any other time in your cycle, you should use a backup method for seven days. When you insert your second or later rings, you may still be having some withdrawal bleeding when it's time to insert the next ring. That's fine -- you should insert it on schedule regardless of any bleeding.

NuvaRing why are you protected instantly if you insert on day 1 or your period opposed to day 2-5?

If you start using NuvaRing on day one of your period, you will be instantly protected because you are not ovulating. If you wait until days 2 - 5, you could not be protected if you have already started to ovulate.

What if you put in your NuvaRing a few hours late - after the seven-day ring-free period?

If you miss the first three days of your NuvaRing cycle, you should use a backup method until you've worn the ring for seven days. If you had sex during that time, consider using emergency contraception.

Can you insert your nuvaring too far?

No, you can't insert NuvaRing too far. The vagina ends in a "dead end" -- it's even called the "cul de sac." NuvaRing can't "get lost" in the vagina. NuvaRing will work no matter where it's place in the vagina, but most women find it more comfortable to insert it high into the vagina near the cervix.

Can you become pregnant if you have intercourse two days after using NuvaRing for the first time and what if your period stopped after the first day on the ring?

You should start using your ring for the first time after your period has stopped. Then begin using your timer to remove on the correct day and replace 7 days later. If used properly you should never have any problems. I was on the ring for 6 + years and had sex as soon as the same day I put it in and never had a question about pregnancy. I fully trust the ring as my method of BC.

If you inserted your first NuvaRing within the first five days of your period, you have immediate protection even if you weren't still bleeding when you inserted it.
