Can you keep a Pygmy Marmoset as a pet?In: Pets |
Answer
You can, but you shouldn't. I suspect you may need to obtain a license such as a dangerous/wild animal license, or similar, they stink, they are harder work than children but make more of a mess, it is not a child, you can't put a nappy on it!! They need to be fed live food like crickets and mealworms, as well as supplements, and they will need correct heat and humidity in their environment as well as environmental enrichment to prevent boredom and stereotypical behavior. And where would you get one? A zoo wouldn't give one as a pet, and taking a wild one is morally wrong, let alone the fact it would be very difficult with all the quarantine and forms, rules and regulations.
The end!

Remember that any animal kept as a pet can require veterinary attention at any time (and will almost surely need it at an advanced age).
If you're keeping an animal illegally (if it IS illegal to house one-- I have no idea), you'd have to expose yourself when your little friend falls ill.
