It is a misconception that the law does not apply to an under-aged person consuming liquor in the family home with the parent's knowledge or permission. The parents can be held accountable on many levels of criminal intent, including but not limited to supplying alcohol to a minor, endangerment of an under-aged person, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and so forth. The general legal definition of "delinquency" is any act which violates a state or federal law, code, statute or regulation.

This is an interesting question, and the answer depends on the state in which you live.

In many states, like Wisconsin, you can drink with parental permission until you are 18 years of age, but they have to be present and must supervise you. Once you turn 18, you are a legal adult, so you technically don't need a parent or guardian, but you are still not 21 years old. So you can drink from birth until your 18th birthday. You can't drink from 18 - 21. Then you can drink from 21 - death.

You should not consume alcohol at all, however. It is dangerous to your health. A child's brain is still developing, and alcohol consumption can cause damage to your brain.
