A primers is basically used to seal a surface and give the top coat "tooth". A primer should be chosen for the surface it is going on, oil based primers adhere better to surfaces like bare wood, slick finishes, and old oil based paint. Once the primer has dried any kind or paint may be applied as a top coat.

∙ 14y agoThe question is unclear. There are three types of paint by base: oil, water, and epoxy. None of the three can be mixed. Rather, one can mix the any two or three of them, but the result would be unusable for painting.

∙ 14y agoIf the enamel is also latex than you can. If it is oil based, then no. Latex paint is pretty much all the same. The sheen and durability will change depending on what you mix together, but it should blend.

Enamel is very hard making it the most durable for bathrooms, woodwork, kitchens. It can be either oil based or water based (latex stands for water based paint).

No. Behr makes "100 percent acrylic" paint. As far as I can remember there's no latex at all in it. It's a waterbased coating that applies and cleans up like latex, but holds up better. It does NOT contain any alkyd.
