NO guinea pigs should not be housed with any other animals except for their own kind. It would most likely end in one (most likely the guinea pig since they are more docile) being seriously injured or killed.

Goddesskieryn: The two animals have seriously different habitat and food needs. While the guinea pig needs extra vitamin C in its diet, that much sugar would be bad for the rats. Not to mention that guinea pigs have rather bad eye sight, and rats being very good climbers need many levels in their cages. Guinea pigs living with multiple levels and bad eyesight equals a falling piggy. If they fall from say a third level they could be seriously injured. Also guinea pigs need long open spaces to run and play, i believe the rule of thumb is something like 7.5ft of space for up to 2 pigs.

No, never let a ferret anywhere near a guinea pig. Guinea pigs are rodents. Ferrets are carnivores, like cats and dogs and have been used for centuries for rodent control! Ferrets still retain a natural instinct to hunt rodents and kill rodents. Ferrets are used for rabbit hunting in the UK.

know that ferrets will generally treat any rodent, bird, or lizard as a prey.

They say that rabbits and guinea pigs get on well but if you have a spare cage i would put them near each other (in separate cages) and see how well they get on. I f they seem quite interested in each other and arn't acting vicious i would let them be put together

but make sure you watch them for a while to make sure they are settled in because they could quite easily hurt/kill each other

Only put a rabbit in the same cage with guinea pig if you are watching them. A rabbit could easily kill a guinea with it's hind legs.

Addition: As Guinea pigs can't produce their own vitamin C, feed both the rabbit & guinea pig guinea pig food which has vitamin C added. The rabbit will be fine eating guinea pig food.

Yes, using a rabbit cage for your guinea pig can work really well. Make sure, though, that the bottom of the cage is smooth/solid and not wire. A wire bottom is too hard for a guinea pig to walk on and can result in foot problems.

Because of the difference in the diets of the two animals they should not be kept in the same cage, a guinea pigs diet will make a rabbit sick.

This all depends on the animals. Mostly it is not a good idea to put different breeds together. Some get along okay if they are paired when young.

Why are guniea pigs better than hamsters?

I wouldn't say that either is better then the other but guinea pigs are more calm. also hamsters are most likely to bite some people say but they only bite if they are scared so if you don't scare them they won't bite simple. but also hamsters are actually lower in price and don't need that much room which is a plus on their side but they are also nocturnal and guinea pigs are awake during the the day and sleep at night. Another thing is that hamsters are more active then guinea pigs so they tend to run around a lot more but this is not true for all hamsters . guinea pigs on the other hand are mostly not that active but again this is not true for all guinea pigs . but something that is for fact guinea pigs must have another to lie with they can not live alone but with hamsters on the other hand they can live alone but then again that is not really good because if you try to put to hamsters in the same cage your looking for a fight. also if guinea pigs escape they are easier to catch.

Will Guinea pigs fight if housed in same cage?

Every guinea pig has their own personality, it is impossible to tell which guinea pigs they'll get along with and not get along with.
