You can you hang an indoor ceiling fan outside under a covered porch. As long as the outside conditions remain close to what the conditions inside the home are. This means as long as it is protected from the weather e.g. rain, direct sunlight, no high humidity.

How do you installing a ceiling fan on 14 foot ceilings?

Yes. Most ceiling fans have parts that let you either put the fan close to the ceiling (which is typical for an 8' ceiling) or let it hang down farther from the ceiling. All my ceilings are 8' and I have 4 ceiling fans in 4 different rooms and they work good by letting me reduce my AC usage, which is much more expensive.

How do you rewire a wall switch to control both ceiling fan and light. The switch currently furns the fan on and off but the light has to be controlled with a pull chain?

Open up the ceiling box and disconnect the blue wire coming from the light and connect it to the black wire coming from the fan. Be sure and put a wire nut on the wire where the light was connected before you removed it. The wall switch is controlling power to the wire where the fan is connected so when you connect the blue fan wire to that connection you will be sending power to both the fan and light from the wall switch.

Can you put a ceiling fan over an ac vent?

Most people set the fan to blow air down regardless of the season. The theory of a ceiling fan is to draw heavier cold air from the ground and circulate up towards the six foot level. In the heat season you are supposed to change the direction of the fan so it now blows down to remove the lighter warm air from the ceiling and push it down to the 6 - 4 foot level. My vents are up high, I want the conditioned air at my level sooner than later. So, if you're like me, you blow the air down all year round, then sure, why not. The air coming from vent my spin the fan a little should the fan be in the off position. No harm there.

The wall switch is off but the ceiling fan is still getting power why?

There is a fault with your electrics to the fan/switch. Get in an electrician to fix it. ------------------------------------------------------------ The switch is bad. Turn off the power to the fan in the main panel, turn off the breaker that powers the fan. Usually if you remove the bottom cover of the fan you can see the switch. You can remove the switch and take it to a electrical supply store and they will match the switch. The wires should all be color coded so you should be able to put in back in and hook it up. Black to black, white to white.

How to connect electricity wire to three wired out ceiling fan?

Some ceiling fans have a black, white and sometimes blue wire. The blue wire in this case is so you can switch a light separate from fan. If your fan doesn't have a light just put a wirenut on extra wire and ignore it. If you do have a light and want it switched you'll need an extra wire run to fan, and switch that wire for light.
