The S220 does not have a touch screen like its big sister the s230
Some of the features of the Nikon s230 10MP Digital Camera is the 3x optical Zoom, 3 inch touch screen, Nikon's smart Portrait System, and Capture images to SD/SDHC memory cards.

The red clock is there because the time is not set on the camera. Simply go into the settings, go to set date and time, and set the time. It's as easy as that.
I couldn't find it in the manual, but others have said "set the date and time". I can't check if this works at the moment (my wife has my camera in Prague, and I'm not there), but it seems like an intuitive meaning for the icon. Would be nice to have it in the docu, so RTFM would actually lead to an answer.
click the red eye flash button! i will show an eye and flash sign! Here are some little software which is not as difficult ad Photoshop, that can help you to remove red eyes from your Pictures easily. http://www.downloadatoz.com/download/208217,8-foolproof-ways-to-retouch-your-photos.html
All of the major manufacturers make good cameras. You should shop on the basis of features and price. I would be leery of touch-screen cameras, however. They have not been on the market long, and there may be bugs in manufacturing and software. They also tend to be fragile. The one I tried out had a disconcerting habit of doing things without my permission, but I'm sure that was my inexperience. My philosophy is, if it works, don't fix it. Touch screens are all the rage these days, but that does not make them the best answer when it comes to camera controls.
