Can you start divorce paperwork even though your partner is pregnant? |
[Edit] |
Answer
Yes, of course. You can initiate a divorce at any time. And maybe it's the right thing to do in your case, but if you're married and a baby is on the way, which is a lifetime commitment, you may want the peace of mind knowing you've exhausted every possible channel in saving your marriage. There's couples counseling, individual therapy, group workshops, church intervention...many alternatives, given your lifestyle. You can divorce your wifea at any time, but know in your heart it's the right thing to do.
Answer
Yes, but you would look heartless and chances of getting custody in the future are slim to none (unless the mom is incapable). Work this out for the baby's sake, the child deserves a good home - not a broken home. If you haven't been to therapy, then you shouldn't be thinking about divorce.
Divorce costs money, alimony and child support are expensive too. It is cheaper to stay married and work it out. Any two people can make a marraige work (no matter the differences) if both are being faithful and there is no abuse.
