Depending on the amount of weight to be lost, it can be very dangerous. If you're talking a day or two, no problem. If you're talking anything more than that you can have serious organ shut-down from electrolyte imbalance, your body will scavange protein from critical organs, such as your heart and it will kill you or cause serious, irreperable damage. Diet and exercise are still the only safe way to drop weight. If you're young enough, go low carb, meaning avoid all sugar and starch. (it's everywhere so learn to read lables.) If you're older be more careful. In either case, make sure that you have checked it out with your doctor before you do anything. Many people have died from attempting to loose weight in such a way. Don't become one of them.
