An hCG level of 8 is above the <5 to 0 of someone who is not pregnant but too low to confirm a pregnancy. If you do not start your period within the week take another test. If it is still greater than 5 to 0 but below 50 you should ask your doctor to do a complete work-up or refer you to an endocrinologist to determine what is going on.
