I have to say first ask your OBGYN, Mine gave me a (permission note) and demanded I get my last two fillings done promptly. The note says Novacaine is 100% allowed, but that is my OBGYN. Nope, absolutely not. Novacaine can easily decrease your breathing so much that you don't supply enough for your baby. Talk to your dental practioner about other avenues, because dental health is more important now than ever.
There have never been studies on the effects of novocaine in pregnant women. Best to avoid all chemicals and drugs while pregnant. If music and emotions can affect the embryo in a negative way, don't you think that something as direct as a drug could also?
I'm going to be honest... yes.Another View: If you have a 'good' doctor or dentist, they will numb the place where you will receive the novacaine shot with a topical anesthetic which they will apply with a cotton swab first.
it is the shots dentists use to numb your mouth before they work on you
The pain from the needle entering the skin depends on the location of the shot, the skill of the doctor/nurse, and the gauge of the needle.
GO TO YOUR DR.!! You need to take a test there and they will be able to tell you. It's no safe to get the shot while your preg.
Benzocaine is a type of gel that dentist's use to numb your gums before getting a shot/injection in your mouth. Dentist's use it for when you are getting the filling for a cavity. So when the injection goes in you will feel no pain at all. The gel comes in a few flavors (most often) and you will get to pick which one you want. They will usually take 1-2 drops of it and rub it on the part where the Novocaine(which is in the shot) will be injected. Therefore it will ease the pain, and you will go out smiling.
Well I guess it better because you don't have to take pills every day or forget to take them...well with the shot itz 99.9% because itz safe and it won't get you pregnant
It depends what you want to get.
Hi, It usually is not normal however, it surely does happen!!! I have the same problem. The dentist who did extensive dental work on me had to order a very strong Novocaine from Europe. It lasted for 15-20 minutes and he was not through. He said because of the strength of the new product, he could not give me another shot. BUT, my nose was numb for 3 days. Another dentist refused to listen to my complaints and told me there was no way I could feel any pain. Your dentist should willingly give you another shot if you feel pain. You should never have to feel pain during a dental procedure. If the dentist refuses to remedy the problem, find another dentist who will listen to you. Be sure to explain past experiences. Keep on until you find a dentist who is willing to do whatever he can to provide you with a pain free procedure. JOSA1
Kills the pain. You need a shot at the dentist, so it numbs your mouth. Then the dentists can operate without hurting you as much.
A local anesthetic is a mild anesthetic used to numb a specific area of the body (such as a Novocaine shot). Novocaine is the most commonly used local anesthetic, though there are topical local anesthetics that can be rubbed on the skin (i.e. Oragel)
I can only think of a steriod injection
No birth control is 100% effective, and there is always the risk of sexually transmitted disease. With that in mind, you have to decide what is 'safe' for you.
