It is not a good idea to take hot showers, baths or sit in saunas or hot tubs throughout pregnancy. In the first trimester, the rise in body temperature can contribute to the formation of neural tube defects (such as spina bifida) and later in pregnancy, the heat can lead to dehydration. It is best to just avoid them!

∙ 12y agoIt depends how overheated you may be - if you are in danger of heatstroke, then cool water would be much better than hot water, but under normal circumstances, I like a hot shower even when I am already hot; it seems to help because when I leave the shower, the weather no longer seems as hot, since it is not as hot as the hot shower.
