Yes, I believe that you can take e-readers with no problem. I have seen no record anywhere on travel forums that there is an issue, and people report taking them all the time.
If you take a laptop, they may (or may not, it's kind of random) ask you to register it at Customs and then you have to show proof that you're taking it back out of the country (if you do register it).
As for wi-fi, very few resorts have it at this point, but more are getting it as time goes on.
Enjoy - Cuba is one of my favourite places!
The time it takes to charge a kobo will depend on the charging method and the kobo's battery capacity. On average, it can take between 1 to 4 hours to fully charge a kobo device from 0% to 100%. If you are using a fast charger, it may take less time. Check your kobo's user manual for specific charging times.
the only way to get the books free on your kindle would be going to your local library website. most libraries now have an ebook section where u can "take out" books just like you can when u go into a library, but instead u can download them onto your ereader. but i wouldnt recomend it because its just like actually going into a library.. if someone already has the book out you have to wait.. its stupid. and you have to make sure you get the ereader books and not audiobooks ect.. also there is a software u have to download to put the books from your computer to your ereader other than your kindle software. you would be lucky to get a book right away but if your patient and can wait for the book then this is ideal.

Depending on which ereader you decide to get, there will be a diagnostic on their website that you can run to see if your computer is compatible to use with the nook/kindle/etc. This won't take long and is very handy when you need a quick install.
Replace the battery?
The Kindle fire is more of a tablet-like eReader. Therefore, the Kindle Fire has apps that the Paperwhite doesn't. Also, the Kindle Fire has a colored screen, while the Paperwhite is purely monochrome. Also, the way things are viewed on a Paperwhite is different. The Paperwhite operates on a different style of form of pixilation Amazon calls E-ink, which may take a second longer to view, but is more crisp than the Fire at times. However, the paperwhite in this respect, has a problem where it can't be read in the dark since it's not backlit.
