Absolutely not within 4 hours of each other. They both are high doses of TCA's and pain relievers. when used together, they act as a major dose of tranquilizer.

I personally am prescribed darvocet for pain. and daily, amitryptaline for sleep and stress.

I accidentally took them too close together, about 2 hours apart, and had convulsions. this is not a good idea.

They can be used outside of a 4 hour period, in the same day. But if you're using amitryptaline, do not take in the day time or unless otherwise prescribed.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, and I have no medical training. I have been prescribed both of these drugs (at different times) and that is the extent of my experience with them.

So this is my personal opinion ONLY:

NO, I wouldn't recommend taking Ambien while taking Darvocet. I wouldn't allow anyone I care about to do so.

Both Ambien and Darvocet have strong sedative effects, and there is a serious risk of overdose if the two are taken together.

See a better explanation of the interaction at Drugs.com:

Drugs.com classifies the interaction of Darvocet and Ambien as MAJOR, noting, "Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit."

Like Drugs.com, MedicineNet.com also cautions against using Ambien with Darvocet: "The risk of serious side effects (such as slow/shallow breathing, severe drowsiness/dizziness) may be increased if this medication [Ambien] is used with other products that may also affect breathing or cause drowsiness."

You can see a longer list of drugs that interact with Ambien here: .

And here's a list of drugs that may interact with Darvocet: .

**The above lists may be incomplete, so don't assume that it's okay to take something just because you don't see it listed there. Ask your doctor!**

Can you take ambien Darvocet flexeril at the same time?

This is a bad idea. You do not want to take three sedative medicines at once. My advice from looking at the list is for you to take care of your pain. You don't NEED a tranquilizer like Ambien - that is for nights when you have tried to get to sleep on your own and not been able to. You can take the Darvocet and Flexeril together as a pain killer + muscle relaxant combination. Taking too many sedatives at once can make you pass out and even have trouble breathing.

Is Darvocet a pain killer?

Yes darvocet is a pain killer, not a very strong one but it is in fact a pain killer. It has propoxyphene in it.

What medications are in Darvocet?

Darvocet is a combination pain medication: propoxyphene napsylate and acetaminophen.

How long after taking Tylenol should you wait before taking Darvocet?

Since Darvocet has Tylenol in it, you cannot take them within 4 hours of each other. Try alternating Darvocet with ibuprofen - take the ibuprofen every 6 to 8 hours, and if you need Darvocet, take it at least 3 hours after the ibuprofen. That way, you won't get too much Tylenol, but it will relieve your pain better.

Is Darvocet an anti inflammatory?

No Darvocet is not an anti inflammatory. It is an opioid pain medication (analgesic).

Is Darvocet an anti-inflammatory drug?

No. Darvocet is a pain relieving drug, not anti-inflammatory. Darvocet contains codeine, which is meant to relieve pain, not so much for inflammation. See if you can get some 800mg Motrin instead. Even for a pain reliever, Darvocet isn't very strong....seems to work well as a mild pain reliever for females though.

Which is stronger Darvocet or Vicodin?

vicodin... darvocet is like strong tylenol. vicodin contains hydrocodone as its active ingredient, making it a pain killer. darvocets active ingredient is naproxen which is a pain reliever.----Darvocet, while it may not be much more effective in pain relief as naproxen, is NOT the same thing. it is a synthetic opioid analgesic (propoxyphene) combined with acetaminophen (Tylenol). It is a very weak painkiller. Vicodin is a combination of the moderately strong opioid hydrocodone and acetaminophen. While Vicodin is much stronger and more effective at relieving pain than Darvocet, they are both narcotics.

Does Darvocet contribute to constipation?

Yes. Started taking darvocet for upper back pain (spondylosis) about 2 months ago. Stopped because I thought there might be a connection. Constipation stopped. Never had constipation before in my life - 60 years. Resumed due to back pain. Constipation resumed.

Are percotocet and Darvocet the same type of narcotic?

NO! Darvocet is a much weaker narcotic pain medication mixed with Tylenol and perco-'s are a type of oxycodone mixture with either Tylenol or aspirin that is much, much stronger. They are both technically "narcotic" but darvocet doesn't give me a head change or and barely touches my pain while percocet had me flying high, feeling NO pain! On the flip side, percocet has more potential for abuse and addiction.

What is darvocet n100?
