yea you can take it out but its illegal so i wouldn't recommend it. im pretty sure its a federal law to have a catalytic converter if the car came with one
if your 1997 super duty is a diesel there is no catalictic converter if it is gas, then it is in the exhaust will look just like a muffler
Yes, a 2006 model would have a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst, which is not the same as a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). US diesels have had DOCs since ~1994.
Gas engine, yesDiesel engine, no.Gas engine, yesDiesel engine, no.
Gas engine, yes.
On the exhaust pipe between the engine and the catalytic converter
The O2 sensor on a 1988 F250 is not near the engine. Go to the exhaust manifold and down the length. It is near the catalytic converter.
you will feel a little more boost but that's about it...its not worth it cuz its highly illegal and if u do it be lucky you don't get caught because its a federal count if you take it off!
26 Gallons
yes it has several of them all vehicle since like 1986 have them
how do you change the oil filter on 2006 f250 diesel?
Actually it probably wasn't customised. That is how they were made. The two sides go together right at the cat converter. There is a four bolt flange at the interface between the crossover pipes and the cat.
Oxygen sensors are pre catalytic converter and post catalytic converter. This means they are somewhere in the exhaust system. Sometimes in the exhaust manifolds or exhaust pipe right off of the engine for the pre cat and in the exhaust pipe immediately after the converter for the post type. Some vehicles have up to 4, yours has 4.
