If it's anything like the 05, the trick is to remove the lever for the release fork before removing the transmission. This is because the clutch plate and release bearing becomes attached to each other. This is a pull type clutch pressure plate. Meaning that the release bearing fits into a clip that is part of the pressure plate assembly. Once you press the clutch pedal, the release bearing pulls the clutch pressure plate towards the transmission, allowing the clutch disc to be released from the engine flywheel. Once you remove the atuator arm, the pivot for the release shaft is free to rotate to release the release bearing from the fork. You should see the release bearing still attached to the pressure plate once the transmission is removed. Oh, one more thing, you will have to remove the subframe in order to gain access to the transmission for removal. My car has a 4 cylinder by the way. Oh there is one more thing. You have to reinstall the release lever to the release fork arm before installing transmission. If you fail to do this, the release arm may rotate without you being aware, therefore the release bearing will become dislodged from the release fork. That is the most critical step for reinstallation.

How do you replace a Honda Passport clutch 1994?
1st..If you obtain a "Haynes Manual" it will be missing some info for the 3.2 litre V-6 as related to the release bearing. Follow the Haynes manual to dissesemble everything (Do not forget to label the wires you unplug from the transmission in a fashion so you remember which ones from the harness go where). Once you get the clutch out and are ready to put the new one in you need to take the outer retainer and retainer wire off the release bearing (throw-out bearing) and place this through the pressure plate hole. Hold the pressure plate in front of you as it will go on the flywheel, hold the release bearing in front of that with the big side with the clips towards you. This is how it will go on the vehicle. The retainer ring and wire need to be "locked" into the pressure plate FIRST!!! Take off the wire then slide the outer ring off. Place the ring through the flywheel then reattach the wire. You should now only have the bare bearing in your hand. Now slide the bearing on the transmission shaft with the big side towards the back so the clutch fork will line up with the clips on the bearing and as you slide the bearing back the forks will be inserted into the bearing clips and slide it well to the rear of the transmission so the bottom of the fork is actually pushed forward. Assemble all else as per manual. When you have the transmission bolted back up, look in the space where the slave cylinder was mounted to the transmission and reach in and grab the bottom end of the clutch fork with your finger or a pry bar with a small hook on it and firmly and quickly pull back to "snap" the bearing into the retainer that is on the pressure plate. Push on the end of the fork with moderate pressure (about 6lbs) to make certain the bearing actually locked into place. This is the short answer intended more to cover what the manual left out rather than step by step procedure. Follow ALL other advice of the manual including use of "moly" grease where it is indicated. I also STRONGLY recommend that you have a mechanic due the work unless you have replaced a few clutches in the past. This (in my opinion) is not the ideal vehicle to be your first clutch job.

Sounds like the throw-out bearing has come apart. the bearing shell or clutch fork will contact the pressure plate fingers, so the pedal will still have pressure. That or the fork is not situated on the ball stud or mount, and is now in a bind. Pretty much have to remove the trans for any work of that nature. hope this helps.

bearing used for the clutch to be placed into gear and to allow it to be depressed to slowly engage the transmission it is used to change the gears up shift and down shift. the throw out bearing pushes against a set of springs to disengage the engine from the transmission while pressing in the direction of the flywheel. the bearing is housed inside the transmission housing and in moved by a fork that travels forward and reward to allow the spinning flywheel to engage and disengage the clutch.
