It depends upon the brand or model of heater. As a general rule, most salamanders or heaters can use either. You just have to try it and see. If it doesn't work and smokes a lot, you drain it out and resort to kerosene again.

A 100% solution of Biodiesel will not work because it requires a much higher initial temperature (300F) to burn cleanly. Blends of these fuels with kerosene can be burned, but there may be problems with the fuel soaking up the wick properly in the case of Biodiesel, which can lead to wick burning and sooting. There may also be problems lighting and burning properly if the blend contains too much of the Biodiesel, as its flash point is higher than kerosene.
