It is not a good idea to use copper pipe with natural gas as any sulphur compounds in the gas can cause an oxide to form in the copper pipe.
Often copper is used with propane. In these instances, soft copper tubing is usually used with compression fittings. The tools required are, pipe cutter and 2 wrenches.

No. You can use flared fittings with a flaring tool and soft copper pipe.

Not sure what you mean by pressure fittings. Threaded fittings for steel pipe are pressure fittings. Steel pipe with a 3/4" O.D. is known as 1/2" I.P.S. (Iron Pipe Size) pipe.

If it is leaking at a fitting, it is either a bad flare or it isn't tight enough. Gas or flare fittings should be put together dry, Do no use pipe dope because this can cause a leak between the mating surfaces. If it is in the line itself, either replace the line or cut it, flare the ends and put a fitting in.
