Can you work as a counselor with just a BA in psychology and how do you go about getting a job in the field?

[Edit]

Answer

Generally you need at least a Master's degree in Psych, Education, or Social WOrk to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. Generally a 2-year program with internship and supervised experience is required before state licensing (at least in Texas). The alternative would be to apply as a Psychiatric Aide at a mental hospital or treatment facility. But that is not generally considered a "counseling" position. Your best bet would be a paid position on a Crisis Line or Rape crisis center.
