Cold starting issues can be a little difficult to find; usually it's something basic such as weak spark, insufficient fuel or low compression.

First, run a compression test. If the compression is low you'll have difficulty getting the engine to start when it's cold.

Second, make sure the sensors are all working properly. If it's "computer controlled" and the computer doesn't know that the engine is cold, it won't inject enough fuel to start when cold.

Third, some engines have an additional injector for cold starts; make sure it's working properly.

And last, make sure the starting circuits are functioning properly; some vehicles engage a separate circuit for the coil when the starter is engaged. If that's not functioning properly you won't get a strong spark and you'll have difficulty starting when cold.

Will car battery go dead if ignition is left on?

if anything is running off the battery (visibly on) the battery will eventually go dead

Will the alternator run the battery low?

If the alternator is not charging the battery, then it will eventually go dead If the voltage regulator (in the alternator) is defective it will eventually kill the battery Check the alternator with a voltmeter A fully charged battery (without engine running) should read approx. 12.8 volts With engine running should read 13.8-14.2 volts

What engine sound will you get if your alternator is gone or going?

if your alternator is gone or going your car will start and then eventually just stop running because your battery has gone dead. it typically will not make any sound when your engine is not running because of a dead battery.

Everytime i turn on myr accessories like my radio why does it it drain your battery?

If you use the radio without the engine running you will eventually discharge the power from the battery. It should be fine for a couple of hours, If not, your battery may need replacing.

Why did your Car lose all power including electrics when driving?

One possiblity could be that the charging system has failed and you were running off battery power only, eventually the battery goes dead and so does the car.

Why do you not get 14 volts when running but the battery never dies?

Your putting a charge on the battery when its running.

What is the importance of alternator?

An alternator is the part of an automobile that generates the power to run the radio, headlights, speakers, and air conditioning as well as any other electronic component in the car while the engine is running. This is different from when the engine is not running. When the engine is not running, the 12 Volt car battery operates these electronics. Unfortunately, every battery will die eventually, so the alternator also recharges the battery while the engine is running. This is a slow process, though. But unless the battery is charged, the engine usually can't ever be started.

Why is your 1988 Chevrolet truck with a 305 engine running of the battery only and not the alternator?

If it is running on the battery only then that means the alternator is not charging the battery.

Why is the battery light on on your 1994 Chevy s10 pickup?

The light is telling you that there is a problem with the charging system. You are running off the battery and will eventually get stuck with a dead battery if you continue to drive that vehicle with the battery light on. Drive to your local auto parts store and they will test the charging system for you at no cost. You are probably in need of an alternator.

How do batteries generate electricity?

Batteries make electricity by a chemical reaction. Eventually the reaction completes and the battery is said to have run down or gone dead. A car's alternator or generator charges the battery by reversing the reaction while the engine is running.

If you had a battery running a fan and a magnet and copper coil mechanism attached to the fan generating electricity and running back to the battery Would it not run longer?

Should your car stay running when you take the pos battery termanal off?

A battery is used to start a car. Once it is running, the alternator then supplies electrical energy to charge the battery as well as power the electrical systems in the car. Removing the battery while the car is running will not affect the running of the car.
