Porsche, Corvette, Viper, Lotus, McLaren and Ferrari build street legal racing cars, that you can drive on the street today. A Sports car was a car that could be raced in the Grand Prix on the weekends, and used to take the kids to school during the week. Generally a Sports car, has no back seat, light weight, and has the engine between the wheels for better weight distribution. It is a car designed for the racing track, and to be driven on the public roads. A true Sports car cannot be front wheel driven because it asks to much from the front wheels, and to little from the rears. Racing cars, and the street versions of racing cars, balance the forces in a corner on all four wheels.

High performance Cars designed to haul people more than go fast are Sporty cars. BMW, Lexus, Cadillac and some Audi's among others are Sporty cars.
