Caution; Do not put kool aid on your hair it doesn't come out. I tried to dye my hair with Kool-Aid for a spirit day during our environmental week. My blond hair turned a limey-green that was absolutely fantastic for "Green Day." However, the dye wouldn't come out of my hair. Many other people are having the same problem. If you have made the awful mistake of "temporarily" dying your hair with a kool-aid dye solution, I suggest:

1) Wash your hair several times thoroughly, scrubbing your scalp with your regular shampoo.

2) Do at least one wash each day with baking soda. The particles will take the color out of your hair. However, this can be drying, so make sure not to overdo it.

3) Use clarifying shampoo from your local drug/grocery store.

4) Bathe your hair in Tomato Juice and rinse out after several minutes. It will take a while, but if you diligently work to get it out, your color will fade and return back to normal after a while. Just remember, it isn't temporary.

Better Answer Red Dye (Kool-aid Stain) Removal

Also works with fruit juices and Gatorades

Try to get up such a stain as soon as possible with a shop vac. Then use a mixture of half ammonia-half water.

(If you don't have ammonia...try some of the yellow antibacterial Windex). Heat up an iron. Saturate the kool-aid spot with your solution. Get a WHITE rag, towel or washcloth depending upon the size of your stain.

(If stain is very large, you can work on small portions at a time, but work slowly and patiently.) Soak the cloth down with the solution until it is dripping. Place the soaked rag over the spot. Place the iron over the spot, on top of the soaked rag.

It will sizzle. Leave the iron on the rag for appox 20-40 seconds, or if you want, you can pull it off and place it back on it every 10 seconds, that works too and is safer for your carpet. BE CAREFUL TO NOT BURN YOUR CARPET!!! The stain will slowly transfer itself to the white rag.

As rag becomes soiled, replace with new soaked white rag. Repeat as necessary - keeping in mind that you CAN burn your carpet with too many tries. This has even been reported to have worked on old red stains. Or call a professional! +++++ Answer DEPENDS ON COLOR. BUT IF YOU HAVE TRIED PRODUCT LIKE "409" WITH NO SUCCESS, TRY HYDOGEND PEROXIDE,,,EXCELLENT FOR BLOOD AND SOME OTHER STAINS.....WATER IS FIRST BEST SOLVENT, THEN RUBBING ALCOHOL, THEN HYDROGEN PEROXIDE, AFTER THAT CARPET STORES HAVE STAIN REMOVERS THAT ARE SPECIFIC FOR DIFFERENT STAINS...

Try using a stain remover called TECH. It comes in a white bottle with black writing and red ink splots on it. Go to the website (I think it is tech.com) and they will tell you where to buy it. Put that directly on the stain and bolt with a clean white towel. It won't leave a film on the carpet and dirt won't stick to it and make new stains. Hope this helps!

Take a bath and wash you hair. Be sure to use shampoo. Oh man...if you're blonde and you spilled Kool-Aid (which is famous for its ability to permanently dye things) on your hair, you have two choices: dyeing it another color or getting two crewcuts, one now and another in about three weeks.
Take a bath

It's not always possible to remove kool aid stains from carpet. All "red stains" are difficult to get out. Red coloring used in pop, candy, and other foods generally doesn't flush out with water. However, if you try the methods used by professional carpet cleaners, you may get that stain out.

First, use a shop-vac to suck some of the kool aid out, if you can get to the stain quickly. This can stop the spill from entering the carpet fibers. Getting out some or all of the remaining stain takes time.

Start with Dawn dishwashing detergent - the original blue type. Add five or six drops to two cups of warm water. Dampen a white cotton cloth with this solution and lay it over the stain. Then place a clothes iron on top of it, set on "low".

Let this sit for fifteen minutes, and don't press down. The red stain will start to wick up into the cloth. You should see red on the cloth. Fold it to use a clean part or apply a new cloth, and repeat the process.

It takes patience to get red stains out of carpet, but even year-old Kool Aid stains have been removed using this method. Repeat the process again and again until there is no more transfer of the red stain to the cloth. Rinse the spot with water, blot it up, and dry it quickly. Quick drying prevents any stain deeper down from wicking up to the surface.

To summarize: use clean white cotton cloth (several), low heat, and don't press or rub. Let the color wick up into the cloth at its own rate, then rinse and dry the area quickly. You can, at the very least, lighten Kool Aid stains and other red stains in carpet using this technique

Step 1: You will want to use the right chemical to get the stain out. We use a product called Kool-Aid, Juice and Dye Stain Remover that is specifically designed to get out Kool-Aid, juice and red beverage stains. It does a fast and easier job than other methods. We use it everyday.

Step 2: Get yourself several white, clean, terry cloth towels depending on how big of a stain you have. The bigger the stain, the more towels you will need. These MUST be white.

Step 3: Apply a liberal amount of the Kool-Aid, Juice & Dye Stain Remover over the stained area.

Step 4: Place a wet, folded and clean terry cloth towel over the stain. When I say "wet" I am referring to a towel that has been put under warm water and rung out very slightly, leaving a liberal amount of water in the towel.

Step 5: Next, you will need a steam iron filled with water and placed on low to medium low setting. Place the iron over the folded towel. Don't worry, you will not burn the carpet. Press firmly on the wet towel and let the steam pull the red dye stain into the towel. Keep the iron on the spot at least 2 minutes and check you progress frequently.

Step 6: As the iron steams out the red dye, it will turn your towel red or whatever color the stain was. Either rinse out the towel and replace it on the stain or put a new terry cloth towel over the stain and repeat this procedure until the stain is gone.

Step 7: Spray the area with hot water that you just cleaned and use another DRY terry cloth towel to blot up the excess water. This will rinse the area and neutralize the cleaning process.
