Clute, Texas in located on the mainland (not on an island) in Brazoria County. Clute, one of the major cities of the area known as Brazosport in Texas, is somewhat centrally located among the various towns and cities in this area which southwest of Houston and down the coast from Galveston. Clute is, therefore, sometimes referred to as the "hub" of Brazosport.
