Yes! Some women - like me - can start having symptoms around this time. By the time you miss your period, a lot of major changes have already taken place in your body. You might have any of the better known pregnancy symptoms such as sore breasts or some nausea, or it could just be a feeling of something being different - a vagueness or tiredness, for example. If you've been pregnant before, you might recognize the feeling even before your period's due date.

At 4 weeks you may be able to see a sac but it would be too early to diagnose a pregnancy. If you wait until a 6 and a half weeks, you should see a fetal pole and between 6.5 and 7 a heartbeat. At this stage the most reliable method would be two blood tests, 48 hours apart showing an HCG level doubling (or nearly doubling).
