Without knowing what state the adoption took place in, it's hard to give you an in-depth answer. Each state has different laws regarding adoption.

I'd suggest you visit this page:

http://www.AdopteeRights.net

On the left hand side of the page, click on the link that reads 'SEARCHERS'

That will give you a listing of the state laws, as well as search and support resources in each state.

Good luck!

Can bio-mother add step father to birth certificate without notifying biological father and step father not adopted child?

no, changing the birth certificate requires adoption, and can only be done if the birth father's parental rights have been terminated.

Could an adopted child's birth certificate be changed so they would not be able to tell they were adopted?

Yes.When a child is legally adopted the child's original birth certificate is amended by court order. The birth certificate will then bear the surname of the adoptive parents and perhaps the child's first and middle name will also be changed.Adoption records are sealed by order of the court unless the involved parties have agreed to an "open adoption".More ContributionsYes it can, I'm adopted and my birth certificate has the names of my adoptive parents. AnswerYes it can, but the original birth statistics would be registered under Vital Statistics with the biological mother's name, but it may not show who the father is and some young unwed mother's may leave the space "father" blank or possibly even name another person as the father because they aren't sure who was the father. im adopted woppidi woop wah love santa Claus

Can you put his name on the birth certificate if he cant sign the birth certificate?

Putting a father's name on the birth certificate does not make him legally the father if you are not married to him. You can put his name on the birth certificate, but realize that it has no legal impact. In order to have paternity established, it has to be done with a court order.

If you are adopted should your adoptive or biological father sign your wedding certificate?

If you are adopted, your biological father has no legal standing. And there is no requirement that any parent sign a wedding certificate. If you are underage, you may need signatures to obtain the marriage license and it would be the adoptive parent that would have to sign.

My husband is not my daughters biological father yet his name is on her birth cert and we are now getting divorced What rights does he have to my daughter?

He would have all of the rights that a biological father has. If he was not the biological father, then his name should not have been put on the birth certificate in the first place, unless he adopted her and the birth certificate was changed.

Can only a guy sign a birth certificate?

Only the biological father can sign his name, if that is what you mean. If the child is adopted the adoptive father can change it and sign his. If the mother sign his name or another man's name, it is fraud. The mother must always be listed on the birth certificate.

Can anyone tell me how to get copies of a child's birth certificate before she was adopted. I am the biological father who gave up rights?

I would think the hospital where the child was born would be able to help you find a birth certificate. After a child is adopted I would not think they would be able to modify a birth certificate because it shows who the father is, and biologically that doesnt change regardless of who adopts the child. It would only show in adoption paperwork, but if the records are sealed then you best hire an Investigator.

My babies father does not want anything to do with our baby so my boyfriend signed her birth certificate and is providing for her. does her biological father have to sign any legal papers?

Yes, he is still the father. If you were married to the boyfriend and he adopted the baby you would still have to get the father to sign away his rights.

By Islamic law you can not be adopted, just raised by another family staying on contact with the biological one. I suggest you ask an Imam about this or if the biological family agrees to it.

Can i put a man that is not biologically my child's father on her birth certificate if he voluntarilly signs paternitythere is no name father named on her birth cert bio father ordered to pay support?

Too many people involved. Leave the birth certificate as it is. Let the biological father continue to pay child support. If the current man marries you and wishes to adopt the child, then that is another matter. Seek legal advice before doing anything to change the birth certificate. No. This would be fraud unless the child is adopted by your boyfriend.
