Could your female rabbit get pregnant before she's 13 weeks old?In: Pets |
Answer
I think 13weeks is too young for a rabbit to get pregnant 16-24 weeks is quoted in all the texts - if occurred any youger I think you need to first confirm exactly the age of the rabbit. My text quotes the variation due to the different sizes of rabbits (dwarf - New Zealand), so I think 13 weeks is too young.
I believe female rabbits can get pregnant before they are 3 months old. It's probably not a good idea, though. Sometimes, the doe will have a 'psychological' pregnancy, and act like she's pregnant when she isn't. Before they give birth, maybe several days to a week or so, they begin pulling hair from underneath their chin area on the fatty pouch there, to line the nest with. If you give them torn strips of newspaper, they will also get to work putting that in their nest.
