Dictaphones are old hat and it's now tape recorders. I've used them in college and at lectures. Buy a good one that has a good range and less sensitivity to other sounds (such a rustling papers, etc.) Sony stores, London Drugs, Costco, Office Depot, Staples would have good tape recorders. Talk to the sales clerk about what one is the best.
