The Court Composer to the Emperor of Austria, Antonio Salieri. Pushkin wrote a play in 1831 suggesting Salieri murdered Mozart out of envy; the play was set as an Opera in 1898 by Rimsky-Korsakov, and in 1979 the English playwrite, Sir Peter Schaffer wrote a fictional story following on from Pushkin. Schaffer's award-winning play became an Oscar-winning film, Amadeus, in 1984. It's a very convincing tale, but it is fiction.

He wasn't. Mozart fell ill while in Prague, for the 6 September premiere of his opera La clemenza di Tito, written in 1791 on commission for the coronation festivities of the Emperor. He was able to continue his professional functions for some time, for instance conducting the premiere of The Magic Flute on 30 September. The illness intensified on 20 November, at which point Mozart became bedridden, suffering from swelling, pain, and vomiting.

Mozart was tended in his final illness by Constanze, her youngest sister Sophie, and the family doctor, Thomas Franz Closset.

Mozart died at 1 in the morning on 5 December 1791.

According to most music historians today, no.Yes that is true i also personally think no because Antonio was going crazy in his mind but he admitted to killing Mozart but like i said he was crazy out of his mind so no one believed him so that is what I say.

In the film "Amadeus" Salieri was wracked with guilt for killing Mozart, but this is not generally believed to be true. While in prague, Mozart contracted a disease which ultimately killed him.

The latest scientific investigation suggests that he developed a bacterial or parasitic infection following his consumption of raw pork. Historians have perused his diaries and letters and concluded that the incubation period for these infections would have been concurrent with the span between his discussion of this "rare treat" and the date of his death.
