Manson would be the first to deny he was the leader of a cult. It sounded much cozier as 'The Family'. But it was without a doubt a cult. His followers were given the standard cult initiation. They were stripped of their worldly possessions, separated from the real world including their families, preached at 24/7, until they could barely think for themselves. All of this is classic brainwashing techniques.

How many people were in The Manson Family?

Hi! im researching the Manson Family Cult aswell, according to my findings i have found there are 9 members involved in the cult, including Charles Manson himself the leader! Why was the Manson family formed?

First and formost, Manson was a 'cult' leader. The only reason for a cult to exist is the exploitation of members by a tyrannical leader. This is the only reason for the family's existance. Manson's hold over these young people was no different than Rev. Jim Jones or David Koresh's total domination of the members of their 'church'.

Why were girls attracted to Charles Manson?

I think it is safe to say it wasn't his clothes or his meticulous grooming habits. But as with other cult leaders, Manson had a certain charisma that some found attractive. Over the years in prison, Manson has morphed into a sad old man, with nothing of importance to contribute. I doubt his younger self would barely recognize what he has become.
