Frank Sinatra DID NOT record Beyond the Sea.
As a Sinatra collector I can confirm that no, Sinatra never recorded it or sang it live.

Here is a follow-up on your answer (below) to my question. Shortly after posting this question, I wrote to the songwriter, Jack Lawrence, who wrote the English lyrics to "Beyond The Sea" (yes, he's still around), along with the song's original composer, Charles Trenet, in 1946. Below is my question to him, and his reply. Also, you can go to his weblink (below), where he talks about the song. I went to YouTube and listened to several submissions of "Beyond The Sea" that were puported to be Frank Sinatra, but they were all Bobby Darin singing. If Frank ever performed the song somewhere, it must have been a memorable moment. - Lee Coffin

Dear Lee,
Thanks for your nice note. Frank may have done the song in live performances but never got around to recording it. But Darin still deserves the credit for making it a hit.

Dear Mr. Lawrence
I am writing to you in regard to your wonderful song "Beyond The Sea." I read your webpage about the song, and your comment about one recording: "(An air check survives of Beneke playing it with Ronnie Deauville, a crooner who was almost impossible to distinguish from the young Sinatra. This track has been circulated by collectors as a Miller-Sinatra recording)."
I've always wanted to know if Frank Sinatra ever recorded "Beyond The Sea" or ever performed the song on one of his many radio or television appearances, such as Armed Forces Radio.
Thank you for your wonderful songs!
Sincerely,
Lee Coffin - San Diego, CA
Yes, he did record it. I just heard it on Youtube. I'm trying to find out if it's available on CD. No luck yet. That's what I'm doing on this forum and how I found your question.

Thank you for allowing me to put in my two cents-worth. I also am a Frank Sinatra collector and I can assure you that he did perform "Somewhere Beyond the Sea". I have been trying to ascertain where and when, and under what circumstances it took place, for quite some time and would welcome accurate information pertinent to that recording. I can also add that, as usual, he was accompanied by (The) Count Basie. I have such a recording in MP3 format as purchased it in 2001. I am certain that either Jack Lawrence or Charles Trenet would also know for sure. Thank you.
