According to the biblical story of Adam and Evem God did not abandon them, but drove them out of the Garden of Eden out of absolute necessity.

In the Book of Genesis, there were two forbidden trees in the Garden of Eden, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the Tree of Life. Once Adam and Eve had eaten the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, they were they were now like gods (Genesis 3:22: "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us..."), but had also become aware of their mortality.

The only difference between them and God (or the gods) was that they must die. By eating of the Tree of Life, they would then also be immortal. In Genesis 3:24, God drove out the man and placed at the entrance to the Garden of Eden, cherubim and a flaming sword to keep [block] the way of the Tree of Life. In the Genesis story, Adam and Eve were sent from the Garden and could not be allowed back for fear they would eat of the second tree.

Did God ask Eve a question?

Yes. In Genesis 3, after Adam and Eve sinned, God asked Adam several questions, with the final result that Adam passed the buck off to Eve. In Genesis 3:13, God then asks Eve, "What is this you have done?" (NASB). As far as I know, this is the only question God asked specifically of Eve.

What did Adam and Eve do to cover their shame once they sinned?

Adam and Eve made a huge mistake with eating from the tree of knowledge. Although they were naked from the start, God made them aware of it. So then, not only did they commit a sin by disobeying God, but they were now even more shameful for being naked. They hid from God to try and cover their sins.
