Answer Yes - look in the BIBLE in Exodus.

Answer Almost certainly not.

There is no physical evidence of the existence of Moses (eg mention of him on pttery shards, as is common for other significant figures). Textual analysis shows that the books of the pentateuch, attributed to Moses, were not written by a single author. Some scholars believe that these books were a much later confection of stories centred around a figure with no historical basis.

Archaelogical studies have more or less shown that the Exodus could not possibly have occurred. A million people or so travelling for decades would have left very evident traces - if only middens - and none have been found.

What's more, we should be glad that th stories are mythical. The accounts of Moses include the first acts of genocide in human history, and the only ones that claim to have been complete. Hitler, by comparison, was a novice, never achieving a goal of exterminating a race as Moses did the Midianites for instance. For reference, Jews still live on Earth, Midianites are extinct, and we can presume this was a deliberate act of genocide.

Answer:

Did George Washington exist? Billions of people, even today, have never heard of him.

Historical records admit that Washington was never seen by people numbering more than thousands.

All we have to rely upon, whether for Washington or Moses, is tradition.

Our tradition states that Moses led two million Israelites for a period spanning several decades. This is an unbroken chain of tradition; and we have the names of the prophets, sages and yeshivot (Torah-academies) in every generation, no exception, who handed down the tradition.

For billions of Christians, Muslims and Jews, the existence of Moses is a fact.

Answer:

We have countless pieces of physical evidence forsomeone like Washington, innumerable pieces of unrelated corroborative evidence, physical evidence still available, including DNA, countless contemporary accounts. We do not rely on tradition. We rely on evidence. For Moses we have The Bible. No contemporary accounts mention him. There is no physical evidence. There are no other witnesses. And the stories told about him stretch scientific credulity to breaking point. Billions of Hindus and Muslims do not accept he existed. And even more billions do not believe in Christ. Moses did not exists. Fact.

The story of Moses is absolutely central to Judaism. Moses spoke to God and followed his commands. He led the people out of Egypt and witnessed many miracles in the wilderness. Moses built the Ark of the Covenant as God commanded and received the ten commandments. But there is no evidence that Moses ever existed. Exodus 12:40-41 says that the Hebrews spent 430 years in Egypt. And according to Genesis, Moses' grandfather, Kohath, was alive at the time of the migration to Egypt and lived 133 years, while Moses' father, Amran, lived 137 years. So, Moses must have been born sometime between 15 years and 270 years after the arrival in Egypt. Even assuming the patriarchs really lived to improbably great ages, Moses died, aged 120 years, at least 40 years before the Exodus. This in itself does not prove that Moses did not exist, but it does demonstrate that the legends that grew up around him were not always accurate.

In fact, almost all scholars now believe that the Israelites did not really conquer the land of the Canaanites, but were themselves rural Canaanites who left the region of the rich coastal cities and settled peacefully in the hitherto sparsely populated hinterland (7). This being the case, they were not descended from the Israelite tribes who fled with Moses out of Egypt. We have no need for the biblical Moses but perhaps there was an escaping slave called Moses, who fled north to join the Hebrew settlements that he found in Judah.

Yes, he did. This Jewish tradition has been handed down for over 3,300 years by the entire Jewish nation, and accepted by Christians and Muslims as well. Moses is mentioned many times in the Torah and Rabbinic literature. He is also mentioned by ancient non-Jewish writers going back over 2,300 years, including Hecataeus, Strabo, Alexander Polyhistor, Manetho, Apion, Chaeremon, Tacitus, and Porphyry. Non-religious ancient Jewish sources mention him too, such as Artapanus, Eupolemus, Josephus and Philo. See also: Debunking the Bible-critics

Where can you get facts about Moses?

AnswerThe story of Moses is to be found in the books of Exodus, Numbers, Leviticus and Deuteronomy. However, if you are after verifiable facts about Moses, there is nothing outside the Bible. There is no extrabiblical mention of Moses or of the events with which he is associated in the Bible, and no archaeological evidence for either Moses or those events. In fact, many scholars doubt whether Moses really existed or the events really occurred.

What two people from the Old Testament appeared with Jesus on a mountain?

AnswerJesus took Peter, James and John up into a high mountain, where his appearance changed, and they saw him talking to Moses and Elijah. It is reported that over 90 per cent of scholars say that the historical events ascribed to Moses never occurred, and it is therefore most unlikely that Moses ever existed. Similarly, it is quite improbable that Elijah ever existed. Yet, somehow, the disciples knew without question that the strangers talking to Jesus were Moses and Elijah.
