No, this is another internet myth. As of early 2012, Steve Perry was preparing to go into the studio and record some new songs. Since then, Perry has also been seen attending sporting events and has been in contact with at least one member of Journey, so no, he has not died.

∙ 14y agoHe is alive and well and enjoying retirement in Del Mar, CA. He just celebrated his sixty-first birthday on Jan. 22, 2010. He has been singing backup on other people's albums of late. Rumor is that he is working on one of his own. When Arnel, Journey's new front-man, was on Oprah, Steve called to wish him the best of luck. Still a classy guy, and judging from a recent photo taken backstage at a U2 concert, still a cutie-pie!

∙ 12y agoHe lives in Los Angeles as far as I know. People see him around town from time to time especially at Dodgers games.
He has been reported to living in either San Diego close to a beach and in Fresno. He was selected as one of the artist for a new CD coming out next month in the 'very best of' collection. The picture is awesome! He is singing again and supposedly been playing his music for friends and such to get feedback. What he doesn't realize is, his true fans would be the positive feedback he's looking for. His voice will always be unique and special.

∙ 11y agoNo. He had several injuries from his performing days with Journey (including a hip injury that was one factor why he left the Journey tour in 1997 and ultimately left the band), but he is very much alive and as of January 2012, was reportedly getting ready to record some new songs.
