No. She was and remains a Hindu. She has stated in multiple interviews both before and after her return to the International Space Station that Ganesh, a Hindu god, was overseeing and protecting her. She also mentioned in interviews that she plans to bring English translations of the Upanishads, Hindu Holy Scriptures, with her next time she goes up into space, just as she brought up the Bhagavad Gita, a different Hindu Holy Scripture, on her first trip to space.
There is a hoax circulated by Islamic Apologists that claims that she converted to Islam because of things that she saw while on the moon. Like the claims circulated about most celebrities converting to Islam, this is nonsense and contains clear factual errors. The claim refers to her as the "first Indian woman on the moon". This is completely false. Not only is she not the first Indian woman on the moon, no Indians and no women have ever been to the moon. Additionally, she is not the first Indian-American woman in space; that honor goes to Kalpana Chawla. The hoax also claims that Mecca and Medina looked like sparks in the night, which is surprising to anyone who has seen a map of the world at night. Even in the Middle East, Cairo, Tel Aviv, Kuwait City, Tehran, and Istanbul are much brighter and more noticeable than Mecca and Medina, never mind Tokyo-Yokohama, Seoul, and Shanghai in East Asia or the Benelux Region in Europe which are much brighter. See this map of the world at night.
There are claims on the web that Sunita Williams (International Space Station astronaut) accepted Islam. Those claims appear to be false.
There is evidence that she has Hindu beliefs. One indication is that she took a small statue of the Hindu god, Ganesha, with her to the ISS and talked of relying on him during her voyage upon her return.

No, Sunita Williams didn't convert to Islam. She has announced her devotion to Ganesha many times in India. By the way, Ganesha is the first Hindu idol travelled to space(with Sunita) and hope hereafter Ganesha will have a greater world view.As for Islam , it emphasizes on worshipping only One True God, who has created the entire universe, sustains it and will resurrect every human being after the dooms day to account for their actions in this life.
I Just wanted to ask if Sunita Williams has converted to Islam. I am not aware why she would do it or if she has already become a muslim, but am curious to know if this is true.

Sunita Williams is an American astronaut and US Naval officer. There have been rumors on internet that she embraced Islam after returning from her mission in space. However, there is no evidence to suggest so and she has never made any statement to elaborate. In all probability, it is a hoax.
Official Conformation has not come yet..... But It is most probable that She has accepted Islam and the media is hiding the information... Alhamdulillah.... Official consfirmation agaya hai she has not accepted islam its false news she is born Hindu and Die Hindu....jai Shree Ram!(Har Har Mahadev)
No as the name Wiliams is a christian name , and not a Muslim one. THIS IS AN ILLOGICAL ANSWER... WILLIAMS MAY BE THE NAME OF HIS FATHER OR HIS HUSBAND OR HIS FAMILY.. SO IF HE HAD CONVERTED TO ISLAM... HOW IT CHANGES.. IT IS STILL WILLIAMS... Yes this is illogical and fake news of she being converted to islam!
