No. It has been restored by the state ( in fact the state works on all 21 missions at various times] and the museum, gift shop, grounds, and church is open for visitors. There is a retreat center on the grounds and quiet day events and a Behind the Scenes tour is also given.

Yes the church was destroyed in 1812. It was rebuilt and destroyed again in 1971.
