One person committed suicide because of World War II was Adolf Hitler, the Nazi dictator of Germany. He made a pact with his girlfriend Eva Braun that they would both kill themselves in his secret bunker. Also, Rudolf Hess, a pilot for Germany, crash-landed in the British Isles. He landed in a field of a local farmer. The farmer found him and kept him under constant watch. After the war ended, he was in the Nuremberg Trials of Nazi War Crimes, and was found guilty. He was sentenced to life in prison, but he shot himself soon after. The government will officially release information about him in 2017. (You might be able to find this information on WikiLeaks). Many other people who were tried at Nuremberg also killed themselves before they were sentenced.
There were Japanese pilots, Kamikaze pilots, who flew their planes into Allied ships attempting to sink them.

There is no exact figure of how many children were killed around the world in World War 2 because many were not on any census and many were simply obliterated in bombs. During WWII, there were many ways soldier's could become POW'S. One way was surrendering, when they lost the will to fight or were unable to fight. This happened a lot in the European Theater. But the Pacific Theater was tremendously different. The Japanese soldiers believed that they should fight to the death, which resulted in very few being captured. Most would commit suicide over being captured. A lot of the ones that were captured were knocked out by blasts from shells or from bullets. There is a famous instance on Okinawa when Hiromichi Yahara, a Japanese colonel was captured because at the time of his capture, he was posing as a civilian teacher. He tried to evade the enemy, but they caught on and got him.
