Yes, of course. The Y2K bug was only because some softwares didn't take into account that considering only two digits for the year would provoke that year 2000 would be expressed as 00 and then it would be smaller than 1999, 1998, etc, and if ther were comparations it would be errors. The simple solution was to reserve 4 digits for the year.
