Did the Emancipation Proclamation affect the south greatly?

Answer:
The Emancipation Proclamation had no immediate affect on the confederacy because it applied only in those territories then in rebellion against the United States government. The Us government had no means of enforcing it in those places.

In the long run it did affect the South because it cast the Civil War very clearly as a war against slavery, and thus reduced the ability of the South to get aid from England or France.
