Ezekiel 29:10 Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from the tower of Syene even unto the border of Ethiopia. 29:11 No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years. 29:12 And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate forty years: and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries. 29:13 Yet thus saith the Lord GOD; At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the people whither they were scattered:
Around 1159 B.C. the Hekla volcano began to erupt and it kept spewing ash into the air for almost 19 years. This began the hardships that faced the Egyptian Empire. Years of drought and an almost dry Nile river created famine and unrest among the people. Fighting among the heirs if Ramesses continued until the pharaoh's power all, but faded. These facts seem to fit well with the prophecies of Ezekiel.
(however, 1159 B.C. was nearly 600 years prior to the date at which Ezekiel was written, so the Hekla volcano cannot have fulfilled the prophecy)
ANOTHER ANSWER
The prophecy in Ezekiel 29:10-13 is fulfilled, but only in part: it is not completely fulfilled yet.
Eze 29:10 Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from the tower of Syene even unto the border of Ethiopia.
Eze 29:11 No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years.
Eze 29:12 And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate forty years: and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.
Eze 29:13 Yet thus saith the Lord GOD; At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the people whither they were scattered:
The critical part is verse 11, where it basically says nothing at all will be able to go from one side of Egypt to the other for 40 years. Think of the Day of the Lord , with the ancient prophets describing what they foresaw happening thousands of years ahead in the near-coming future but only being able to use language and idioms of their day.
Think of nuclear bombs: then think of radioactivity killing all those who try to cross Egypt from one side to the other. Think of God's plan to allow Israel to be brought to repentance by its enemies, and then look at the world news with Gods' perspective.
The prophecy in Ezekiel was only partially-fulfilled; it will be yet to be fulfilled in its entirety.
AnswerEgypt was never in desolate or uninhabited since this prophecy was made. Clearly a failed Prophecy and the probability of it ever happening is very nil to non-existent.Nelson Study Bible, note on verse 11). Pharaoh Hophra was executed at the time of Nebuchadnezzar's invasion, not long after a coup by Hophra's own general Amasis or Ahmose, who replaced him as pharaoh. Ahmose (II) remained on the throne as a Babylonian vassal and continued into the Persian period, dying a year before the Persian invasion of Egypt in 525 B.C.
"Following its conquest by the Babylonians, Egypt would never again be a superpower empire. This was especially true of the original ethnic Egyptians. More than 200 years later, after Alexander the great, the land of Egypt did emerge again as an independent power under the Ptolemaic dynasty for three centuries-but, besides the fact that it was nowhere near the great power that Egypt had once been, this was actually a Greek kingdom, not a truly Egyptian one. Afterward, Egypt became a Roman possession and then, centuries later, a province of the Islamic empire. When Egypt became an independent nation in modern times, it was as an Arab, not a true Egyptian, state. The original Egyptians today may be found among the Copts of Egypt and possibly the Gypsies (according to some of their historical traditions)-both of whom are indeed very lowly peoples in geopolitical terms."
