You can't make your self get your period. No one can, first of all your body will make you get your period when your body thinks that it is time. In addition, many girls might start their period from any age between 7-17 years old... but most likely it will happen about/around the same time that you mother had her period, or if you have an older sister it could also happen around the age she got her first period.
And in addition to the other question you are born with the ability to do that... you don't need to be taught...!
