- Our Toto toilet is 10 years old and I have finally had it with this piece of junk. "Best toilet made." BS. Skid marks are a huge problem. It takes several flushes to get rid of them, and that's below the water line! Any "solid matter" above the water line cannot be remove except by virorous scrubbing with a brush - and the stuborn ones require a popsicle stick, yuck. I also just found that solid matter is being trapped in the front hole in the bottom of the bowl. I was cleaning it today and was vigorusly brushin down there when a LOT of solid matter came drifting up into the bowl. OMG! I am on my third flushing mechanism and the handle is so loose in the hole that it flops around. The final straw was coming home after vacation and using the toilet, then discovering yucky brown water in the bowl. I accused my wife of not flushing the toilet after a BM. Not true! she yelled. So I removed the tank cover and it was full of brown water. Took three flushes to get rid of it. So, some part is rotting away in the tank producing brown water.
- Going with American Standard.

- QUESTION: Can plungers be used with Toto toilets? My (landlord's) Toto 1.6 gpf/6.0 gfl toilet bowl contour provides a .5" gap ("front-center" 6:00 O'clock), preventing any seal with any of several plunger designs. Rags (in the "hole") don't help. I've been unplugging toilets for years (marine engineer) and I've never seen such a lousy design for maintenance. I'll probably be out $150 for a plumber visit (lifting the bowl, since the landlord trusts only his plumber's return visits). I feel robbed.
