Can Adderall cause depression?

Depression, no matter the source, really stinks. Kicking a person when they are down says much of ones persona. If there is a need to release anger, depression, angst, etc. try exercising, talking to someone, thinking/saying positive thoughts in 3 (I am happy, I am happy, I am happy) and/or writing 15 minutes a day. It may not be the answer, but surely spreading negativity and violence is not.

As for teen angst, it is just as real as grown up angst. Life can be difficult, confusing, and very unfair. Cherish the moments of happiness and comfort; those moments are not what life mostly consists of. Be compassionate, generous and strong in the moments of sadness and discomfort; this is what defines character.

I’ve been considering Adderall to help me focus. However, after reading that it can induce depression (and apparently anger) I am not so sure it is the route I am going to take.

Yes, it can. I take Adderall everyday and everytime I do take it I get really depressed to the point of tears my mom said I can stop taking it. But this is what gets me i have been taking ADD and ADHD meds for 7 years, why this year its causing me to be depressed. I have been taking adderall for about one year now. I only actually got perscribed my own a few weeks ago though. I only used it recreationaly and for exams before I was perscribed, and right now I am taking 40-50 mg a day. I really believe that if I do not abuse it Adderall really helps me concentrate in school and I sinceraly believe I have ADD and need the medication. But, I have noticed that my mood sometimes changes rapidly when I'm on the medication, sometimes turning into a mild depression. I also smoke marijuana fairly regularly at night to help me fall asleep from the drug, if that could even be a reason.. But my question was- is there any way I can stay on the medication and stop the depression and mood swings?

Your doctor will probably not know the first thing about adderall its a old drug and many only speculate but real experience say otherwise,this is breif introduction to some of the things ive found out about adderall being age 20 male and starting out weighing 327 lbs at 75 mg and being 234 lbs taking 60 mg..adderall can be a drug from hell and be a bad thing if you dont use precautions.Adderall can be to any side of the spectrum in experiences or side affects based on age weight gender and diet and its to a good drug for 57 percent of the population.

As a user of Adderall XR, my medication was actualliy prescribed to treat my depression. Side effects can however vary within patients as can general response. I personally am inclined to bouts of depression the first day of skipping a dosage and thereafter stabilize.
