Do Sephardic Jews from Spain or Portugal consider themselves Hispanic or Jewish in America?

I am Jewish and was born in Argentina and so was my mom. Her parents are Russian and my father is Polish. I dont consider myself Hispanic although I was an Argentinian citizen. Many Hispanics get upset when I say this as if I was ashamed of being called Hispanic. I try to explain it this way. If i was born in Japan, I wouldn't be Japanese. If i was born in China, I wouldn't be Chinese. Hell, I wouldnt even be a Japanese citizen based on Japanese law. To me a Hispanic is someone from South America. I dont consider Portuguese or Spaniards to be Hispanics. They are no different from the French or Italians except they speak a different language and in reality its not all that different. Hispanics to me are people from South America. They are a blend of Native Indian, some African in the case of Brazil and Europeans. Like all things, its a generality and I am sure that are groups that are all European to groups that are all Native American to groups that are a blend. On the other hand, the word Hispanic is idiotic because an Argentinian has very little in common with someone from Mexico. We dont eat the same, we dont have the same culture, its all different. Our accents are different, our slang is different, our way of life is different. Not saying better or worse, just different

I am a Sephardic Jew and I do consider myself a Hispanic. I am a Jewish Hispanic. There are Hispanic Jews just like there are German Jews. Jews have intermarried with the people that live in the countries where they settled. I don't believe that there are many Jews that can say that they are 100% part of the original Jews. We have been scattered throughout the world and it would be impossible for us to identify ourselves as just being Jewish.
