- Interesting opinion put forth there, GravyFish, but other research -- not just from the drug companies -- shows otherwise. Wikipedia's article on Serotonin has contrary information, along with references.
- You do have a good point, though, in saying that someone with experience in both the physiological and psychological aspects should be consulted for most cases. Sometimes bloodwork can show exactly what '''is''' going on, but it usually takes a specialist with expertise in both fields to recognize this.

- There is no scientific basis for depression as a result of seratonin imbalance. That's sort of a marketing point for pharmecutical companies, but there's no way to actually measure such an imbalance. Of course, SSRI's still may have an effect, but seeing a psychaiatrist is the best way to find out.

- Yes, it could, actually. Depression can be a symptom of seratonin imbalance, which can also cause anxiety attacks, which can show up as '''anger''' attacks. I've had to deal with these most of my life.

- <Bethgirl> Thanks for your help! Well yes I'am very insecure about myself.. but i'm a little confused on how that would expalin why sometimes I just say mean things, I consider myself in general to be very nice and caring but sometimes I just say something and I feel bad afterwards for saying it. Kind of confusing... I was depressesd for 6 to 8 months but thats been over for about three months now... is it still affectiong me somehow?
