- Good customer service is service that reflects that you care about the customer and are willing to make an extra effort to satisfy their needs. Certainly a part of it is being friendly and courteous, but it means a lot to a customer to provide true help and doing so in a reasonable amount of time. Taking an interest in a person and their concerns is important. Do not ignore the customer, but if you cannot help them directly, then point them in the right direction of someone who can. And it helps to follow up and let them know that they are not forgotten. A customer can be someone in the public ( external ) or someone in another department ( internal ) - no matter what, they all deserve attention.
