I waited until nightfall when the bees went back into their home. I then put a mixture of cat food and grape jelly in and around the holes to the hive. By morning, skunks had come, dug up the hive and eaten everything over night, mixture, bees, and larve. No chemicals, no major expense, and all natural.

Parked the lawn mower over the holes and ran it for half an hour? You're an f'ing idiot! I hope you realized you just rid your yard of a docile polinator which was helping to keep your plants healthy.

well- we had a massive nest of bees in 1 of my back yard trees. swear to god it was lik 1m long, bloody massive. anyway, my dad got a bucket of terps and covered it all over it at NIGHT ( bees are as active as night as in day ). most of the nest fell with in half an hour and nothing can survive swimming, breathin and drinking terps!

those bees got f*$%@ed up!

ive also heard lightin the nest is very good, as long as u dont burn the hole tree down.

I have found that a garden hose works wonders, My husband put it down one of the holes and none came out so we figured that they had all died, It even helped the grass grow very good. We have 2 kids and no problems with bees.

I moved in to a new place recently and I'm not sure what kind of ground bees these are. They are in my barn and look like very large black wasps. I have poured gas in the holes, but I obviously did not get them all. They just re-routed the holes nearby. The floor of the barn is dry, sandy dirt. Do these sound like the bees being discussed?

I got rid of my bee problem by parking my riding mower over the hole during mid day. I set the blades to the lowest setting which laid the deck on the ground traping the bees. I left it running for about 1/2 an hour and came back no more bees.

I have just recently identified that I have "Mining Bees". I have them every year in the sloping ground under my porch. The are non-agressive and sound much harmless than they are. A study published by University of Rhode Island Landscape Horticulture Program in the GreenShare factsheets describes mining bees as non-aggressive and seldom, if ever, sting. Teh larger bees are furry and usually darker in color than honey bees. some are brightly striped (which is what I have - almost a miniture blakc and white bumble bee) and others are shiny metallic green. I have also noticed in the past when I have my hose out to water, they love the water on the ground. So, about twice a summer I purchase spray bee killer and spray their tunnel nests. The article also says the population can fluctuate dramatically from one season to the next.
