If the question is "Is a cucumber a fruit?", the answer can be or will be "Scientifically, yes".

BUT when you are asked, "Is a cucumber a vegetable?", the answer also can be "YES, according to the culinary category".

So the answer given is wrong or appropriate, or at least not at all complete.
