- So, please correct article.
- The information on driver license 2D bar code (PDF417) is not "encrypted" and not safe when scanned.
- PDF417 is the standard selected by the Department of Homeland Security as the machine readable zone technology for RealID compliant driver licenses and state issued identification cards.

- Q: Will the information about me on the PDF417 barcode, such as my home address, be encrypted to prevent a bank or a bar or any other business from swiping it and adding me to their database?
- No. Homeland Security said it would be too much work "given law enforcement's need for easy access to the information." It is, however, "open to considering technology alternatives to the PDF417 2D bar code in the future to provide greater privacy protections," which could mean RFID chips in the future. U.S. passports already have RFID chips embedded.

- Who said it is encrypted. People discovered that 2D bar-code contains un-encrypted info - http://schram.net/articles/barcode.html
- There is also the evidence exists when scanned information will be collected and used against you during criminal investigation - http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2003/04/04-09-03tdc/04-09-03dnews-08.asp
