The Republican party supports the rights they think should be allowed to Americans. Including, but not limited to: Abortions, same-sex marriages, employment, social services,etc.

As long as big corporations are making record profits, the government in general will not be concerned about the individual. Considering that most government leaders have stock in big corporations, seeing their needs met first ensures large profits for these government leaders and continuing support from the largest source of contributions they can get their hands on legally.
